As if our world doesn't have enough chaos, once again prayer has been dumped on. A lawsuit was filed by the Freedom from Religion Foundation and a Madison-based group of atheists and agnostics filed against President George W. Bush's administration near the end of his second term. U.S. District Judge Barbara Crabb has now ruled it unconstitutional. The American Family Association (AFA) is sponsoring a National Day of Prayer and asking supporters to meet at town City Halls on May 6, 2010 at 12:20 p.m. for twenty minutes of prayer. The National Day of prayer was officially set by President Harry S. Truman in 1952 and in 1988 the first Thursday in the month of May was set as an official time.
It is time for Christians to take a stand. Let's show up and show them! Prayer changes things!

Why have we forgotten?
Many of us were going downhill before we elected a new President. We welcomed change, but only a year down the road we have forgotten the past that made us welcome a new president and the change he would work for. Eight years of leadership prior to this took us from a surplus to a deficit, a wrecked economy, home foreclosures, and unemployment. Unfortunately, because our new leader can't snap his fingers and make all of this disappear over night, we've lost sight of the past that haunted us and drove us to elect him. Some of our attitudes are like that of the Jews who wanted to go back down into Egypt and slavery rather than endure the hardships and continue the fight. Yes, endure the hardships. They weren't created over night and they won't go away over night. Yes, continue the fight! The same sounding off that Joe and the other common people made during the campaign trail is the fight that must continue. These are some numbers we must keep in mind when you vote this year:
100 times Republicans stalled or used obstructionist tacticks to slow progress in 2009.
1,000 Number of hours that Republicans have wasted using unnecessary stalls and delays.
0 Senate Republicans voted for the health care reform bill.
16 Democratic incumbents up for election this November.
Only 1 Seat need by the Republicans to regain the power to filibuster legislation.
Remember what John F. Kennedy said, "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country." Let's continue the fight!

BiPartisan? Really!
One news article read "Brown's stunning victory restored the GOP's power to block bills with Senate filibusters." BiPartisan! The Webster's New World Dictionary defines it as supported by two parties. Really! If the GOP's intention is only to block efforts to resolve issues proposed by the Democratic Party just to prove that they are more powerful, then there can be no bi-partisanship. The only way that this can be resolved is that both parties come to the table with what they do agree on. Make health care a work in progress. All issues can't be resolved at one time. It is important to start somewhere with something, because of the magnetitude of this problem.
The American people are sick of electing people to represent them in congress, but when they get there all they do is engage in power struggles! Who is the greatest or who has the most control, Republicans or Democrats? The President expressed his desire to resolve issues through bipartisanship. For a whole year, he has labored with Congress in trying to get a bipartisan health care bill that will give dignity to the citizens of this country. It is amazing that not one republican would dare cross the line in agreement with the proposed bill, because solidarity is more important than daring to be different and working for the ordinary citizen. Let's face it, we've all been there. It is not a comfortable feeling having everybody else in the group giving you the evil eye when you disagree with them. They call it selling them out, so out of your own fear, you stand in agreement with everyone else in the party even if you don't agree with. The American people can fix that when they go to the polls. There is only one problem I see with this thing as of now. All of the ordinary people who so desperately needed health care seem to be silent. They sounded off during campaign trails, where are you? Wake-up and Sound-Off!
